FOAM ROLLING INSTRUCTION
Foam rolling is a self-myofascial release (SMR) technique that used by athletes and physical therapists to inhibit overactive muscles and release facial adhesions. This form of bodywork utilizes the concept of autogenic inhibition (sudden relaxation of the muscle) to improve soft tissue extensibility, thus relaxing the muscle and allowing the activation of the antagonist muscle. In this half hour session the client will be taught how to properly roll out major muscle groups with proper body placement and weight disbursement. Client should wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to move around. Foam roller will be provided by the therapist or client can chose to bring their own. Notes may be taken during session for reference.
