All You Need to Know About Our Massage Enhancements!

At Longevity Wellness, we strive to give you the best massage experience possible! One of the ways we do that is through massage enhancements.

These are small services we do at the end of your massage to help with different things. It may promote relaxation, focus on discomfort, or pain in a certain part of your body, or it may be used as a way to wake your body up a little from that famous “massage brain" feeling you have after walking out of your massage.

But, how do you know what kind of massage enhancement is best for you? Is one more appropriate than another for a certain complaint? What does this enhancement really DO?

Well, that is what we’re here for! Let’s dive right in and take a look at a massage enhancement that has a long history with wellness.

Hot stones - $15

Hot stones have been used by the Chinese for over 2,000 years! the ancient Chinese people would place hot stones on certain parts of the body to improve internal organ function. Today, research has actually shown that hot stone massages have several physical and emotional benefits for the body. Because heat acts as a natural muscle relaxer, hot stones can relieve muscle tension and pain in the body. Since heat is a natural physical relaxer, the mind can also be relieved in certain ways because of heat as well. Hot stones can help reduce anxiety, promote relaxation, and can even help regain restorative sleep. COLD STONES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST

Aromatherapy - $10

Aromatherapy is a holistic treatment going back thousands of years using oil extracts from plants (called essential oils). Aromatherapy is found to be effective whether breathed in through the nose or placed on the skin. Many people chose to add aromatherapy to their massage to relax their minds more or boost their immune system. Different essential oils can also have different healing benefits. For example, the orange essential oil can help with weight loss, exercise performance, and reduce anxiety and depression. While the ylang ylang essential oil can help with lowering blood pressure, decreasing heart rate, and boosting your mood.

Cupping Therapy - $20

Cupping therapy is probably the most popular enhancement that people request to get with their massage. Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine used to create localized suction on the skin through heated and oiled cups. People use cupping therapy to increase blood flow to a certain spot on the body causing discomfort and pain. All of our massage therapists have been trained in cupping therapy, its uses, and applications. If you see our therapists walking down the office hallway, you can sometimes notice cupping marks on their neck or arms because they do cupping on themselves to relieve their own aches and pains!

Facial cupping - $20

Facial cupping is very similar to cupping because it uses the same tools but for different purposes and in different ways. Facial cupping uses smaller cups applied with heat and oil but instead of creating suction on one part of the body, this technique focuses specifically on the face and relies heavily on the consistent and constant movement or gliding of the cup across the face. People request facial cupping to naturally increase blood flow to their face and create a more ‘plumped skin’ look.

Reflexology - $20

Reflexology, also known as ‘zone therapy’ is a technique that applies acute pressure to the hands, feet, and ears. The theory says that certain parts of your hands and feet correspond with other internal organs and body systems. Our massage therapists apply pressure to these different ‘zones’ to promote healing and relaxation. For example, therapists might apply pressure to certain areas in the feet for people with kidney problems. Or they may apply pressure to certain parts of the hands to help people with diabetes! Reflexology should be done after asking a doctor, however, if you have gout, foot ulcers, fungal infections, open wounds on the hands or feet, or blood clots.

Fire and ice - $12

Our massage therapists at Longevity Wellness offer something called the fire and ice enhancement. It works by using a prossage heat relief topical cream combined with an icy, cool menthol relief cream. Using these two different methods of massage work to relieve muscle tension and reduce inflammation!

STRETCH THERAPY - $15

Stretching your body after a massage is a great way to wake up the mind and body after a relaxing session. Isolated stretching helps to release muscle tension, increase blood flow and circulation as well as many other benefits! Adding stretch therapy to a massage would be perfect for people who have errands to run or a meeting to go to afterward.

Hand & foot scrubs - $12 for one, $20 for both

Hand and foot scrubs are perfect for people who get frequent pain or discomfort from their hands or feet. If you work with your hands a lot typing on a computer, or frequently walk around barefoot, a foot or hand scrub would be your solution! This treatment works to get rid of dead skin on the hands or feet and to increase blood flow to them. This increase in blood flow, and rise in heat due to the scrub, can help to alleviate shooting or triggering pain in the hands and feet.

Body brushing - $10

Body brushing uses a finely bristled, wooden brush to exfoliate the skin. Exfoliation helps to get rid of dead skin cells on the skin, leaving you smoother and fresher! Using a brush in this way on the body is also linked to helping with the lymphatic system and draining toxins from the body. Brushing of this kind can also help to increase circulation and help reduce the look of cellulite.
